Road to White House... Runs Through Patriots Point

On Friday January 18th the national media spotlight once again hit Patriots Point. Presidential candidate John McCain held a campaign rally aboard USS Yorktown on the eve of the South Carolina Republican Primary.
By virtue of the campaign rally, USS Yorktown was prominently featured live during network newscasts and highlighted in newspaper coverage ranging from the New York Times to the San Francisco Examiner.
As the 2008 campaign began to heat up Patriots Point was the site of another presidential campaign rally. Republican candidate and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney held a rally in the summer of 2007.
Leading up to the 2004 race for President, eventual Democratic nominee John Kerry launched his bid for the White House in a live, nationally televised press conference at Patriots Point.
During the 2005-2006 school year over 32,100 students from the South Carolina Lowcountry and other parts of the country participated in Patriots Point education programs.
