Commemorative Serving Tray of Eleanor Roosevelt
Description
Round silver tray presented to Eleanor Roosevelt by the Yorktown Association on May 3, 1958. Above an engraving of USS Yorktown (CV-10) in her World War II configuration is the inscription "TO ELEANOR ROOSEVELT SPONSOR OF THE U. S. S. YORKTOWN CV-10 "THE FIGHTING LADY" FROM THE MEMBERS OF THE YORKTOWN ASSOCIATION MAY 5, 1958". The reverse bears the Gorham Silver sterling mark. Just below that appears an inventory tag reading "Estate of Eleanor Roosevelt No. 84 Hyde Park, N. Y."

Context
This commemorative tray was originally presented to the Yorktown Association to Eleanor Roosevelt in honor of her sponsorship of the USS Yorktown (CV-10) fifteen years prior. This tray was presented to Roosevelt during the tenth annual Yorktown Assocation Reunion where she was the guest of honor.
