Description
World War II era US Navy dog tag is made of a rounded metal with two holes punched out of either side. One side has a beaded chain with clasp attached. Info stamped on the metal details Gerald Hennesy's name and information. Information on the dog tag reads that Gerald Craft Hennesy, service number 176560, had a tetanus shot in June of 1943 and was in the US Navy Reserves as an Airman.

Context
As a F4U Corsair fighter-bomber pilot in the Pacific, Gerald Hennesy flew almost 100 missions off the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CV-10). He received the Air Medal for downing an enemy aircraft during a rescue mission for one of his fellow pilots.
