Description
A Japanese year planning booklet taken from a downed Japanese pilot rescued by USS Laffey. The planner has an embossed maroon paper cover and contains graph paper, address section, reproductions of Japanese art prints at the beginning of each month, with written sections in Japanese. It also contains two maps: one of Europe and the second showing the Western Pacific with Japan at the center.

From the Collection of Frank Manson. Lt. Frank Manson was a Communications Officer aboard the USS Laffey (DD-724) from 1944-1945, as well as the press liaison for Commander Becton during the ship's Shipyard Worker Retention Tour.
Taken from a downed Japanese pilot picked up by the USS Laffey (DD-724) on November 11, 1944. The pilot was interrogated by Frank Manson before being turned over to US Intelligence via the USS Enterprise (CV-6). The booklet was examined in the field by US Intelligence and given back to Frank Manson as a souvenir.
