Description
As part of the effort to retain west coast shipyard workers, the USS Laffey (DD-724) was put on public display in Seattle and Tacoma before going into Todd Shipyard for repair. This campaign also included radio programs to increase the public awareness. Radio station KJR in Seattle produced a segment "Repairing the USS Laffey" broadcast between 8:00 and 8:15 PM on June 19, 1945.
