Designed as a successor to the Grumman S-2 Tracker, the S-3 Viking was developed for anti-submarine warfare.
The first Vikings were introduced in 1972 and put into Naval operation in 1974.
Viking arrived at Patriots Point in 2006 and is on loan from the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.
