Description
The USS Yorktown's ship's log for the 6000-0400 watch on New Year's Eve, 1943 to 1944. The ship's log was made into a poem by the very bored Lieutenant on watch, J.D. Porter of the USS Yorktown's Gunnery Department. The poem details the goings on of the ship as well as their location at Pearl Harbor.

Stephen Fitch was a Lt. Commander in the Engineering Department on the USS Yorktown (CV-10). An artist at heart, Fitch would draw both small cartoons and comics as well as detailed schematics of engine compartments and staterooms. Fitch is also the artist behind the squadron emblems on the flight deck killboards.
