Description
Painting of an ocean-faring USS Yorktown (CVS-10) with incoming Douglas A-1 Skyraider and Grumman Trader planes. The painting was originally painted in shades of blue and has since faded to greyscale from prolonged light exposure. The painting is on paper with an overlaid plastic sheet on which the line drawings provide the finer details.
Context
This painting was created by an unknown sailor aboard the USS Yorktown (CVS-10) in 1961.
