Join us as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Attack on the USS Laffey at the Battle of Okinawa, honoring the courage and sacrifice of her crew. This day of remembrance and reflection will begin with a special memorial ceremony, followed by historical presentations and interactive experiences throughout the day.

Visitors will be able to explore the entire museum, engage with living history reenactors, and view a newly unveiled exhibit aboard the USS Laffey. A special presentation, The Ship That Would Not Die, led by Dr. Kyle Sinise, a history professor at The Citadel, will provide a deeper look into the Laffey’s resilience and legacy.

Special discussions focusing on the kamikaze attacks on the USS Laffey will also be open to guests, offering an in-depth perspective on the pivotal events that shaped the ship’s history.

This commemorative event is a chance to honor the brave crew of the Ship That Would Not Die and reflect on their extraordinary story of survival and heroism.
