Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will offer Vietnam veterans and their immediate family members free admission on Vietnam Veterans Day, March 29, the 47th anniversary of the day United States troops left Vietnam.

At 2 p.m., March 29, the museum will host a remembrance ceremony for those who lost their lives in the war.  Throughout the day, representatives from the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center will be onsite to answer questions about various support programs available to veterans.  Vietnam veterans will be given an official United States Vietnam War Commemoration pin, welcomed home, and thanked for their service.

“As an official Vietnam War commemorative partner of the Department of Defense, we hope Vietnam veterans will continue to use Patriots Point as place to spend Vietnam Veterans Day,” said Patriots Point Executive Director Larry Murray. “We also hope to see members of the community here to support the men and women who were treated so unfairly when they returned from the battlefront nearly 50 years ago.”

Vietnam Veteran and author Maj. Stoney Bates, USMC (Ret.) will be the featured speaker for the 2 p.m. ceremony.  Free admission for Vietnam veterans and their immediate families will include the museum ships and the three-acre Vietnam Experience Exhibit.  Parking on March 29 will cost $5.
