Heroes Among Us: Survival & Sacrifice
Together with the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, we invite the public to come hear first-hand stories of both survival and sacrifice in the name of service to our nation's military.
USMC Lt. Clebe McClary will tell his own story of survival and sacrifice during his service in the Vietnam War. Lt. McClary will also tell of his direct experience with Ralph H. Johnson, the Medal of Honor recipient for whom the Charleston VA Medical Center is named. Ralph Johnson gave the ultimate sacrifice for his country, and in doing so, saved the lives of those around him, including Lt. McClary.
In addition to the story of Ralph Johnson, guests will hear first-hand stories from others who served with great valor and distinction in the Vietnam War.
More details to be released soon, but mark your calendars today for this incredible opportunity to hear great stories of bravery and sacrifice from those who were willing to risk everything for their country.
Admission and parking will be FREE. The event will be held in the Smokey Stover Theater onboard the USS Yorktown. Seating in the theater will be offered at a first-come, first-served basis, and additional seating will be set up in an additional location where guests can watch the event on a projection screen.
