2012 Carrier Classic on the Flight Deck of the USS YORKTOWN

Date

We have received a number of inquiries from active duty military and veterans.  Please note that, while we love our active duty military and veterans, Patriots Point does not have any role in the distribution of tickets to the game.

  • A limited number of tickets have been set aside for active duty military members representing every branch of the armed forces.  ALL tickets will be distributed through individual chains of command.  Please contact your command post directly for information regarding the distribution/pick up of tickets.  All tickets must be picked up prior to game day -- unfortunately, staff will not be able to admit those who show up with an ID; but no ticket.

  • Veterans tickets have been distributed through veterans organizations such as the Wounded Warrior Project and the Ralph A. Johnson VA Medical Center.  At this time, all complimentary veterans tickets have been distributed; but tickets are still available for purchase at the Morale Entertainment Foundation website, and/or through the USS Yorktown Association.

Patriots Point has signed a contract with Morale Entertainment Foundation to host the 2012 Carrier Classic on the flight deck of the USS YORKTOWN. To be played on November 9, 2012, it will feature a double-header pitting the women’s teams of Ohio State University and the University of Notre Dame, and the men’s teams of Marquette University and Ohio State University.

Last year’s Carrier Classic attracted the President and First Lady of the United States to the USS Carl Vinson and garnered some of the highest-ever television ratings for that time period. The 2012 Carrier Classic will again focus attention on America’s veterans and members of the armed services, while raising money for organizations that support them. The 2012 beneficiaries are the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Museum, and the Wounded Warrior Project. The 2011 Carrier Classic contributed almost half a million dollars to its beneficiaries.

In addition, this year’s Carrier Classic will again provide no-cost tickets for members of the military and veterans. In 2011, the Morale Entertainment Foundation provided over 7,000 free tickets to active duty military, veterans, and Wounded Warriors. Morale remains committed to organizing and producing another first class event at Patriots Point.

The Morale Entertainment Foundation, Inc., a Georgia not-for-profit corporation. Its historical mission has been to entertain and inspire members of the United States military on duty throughout the world.
