Melodie Homer has authored a book titled, “From Where I Stand,” which chronicles the events of that day and the new normal she’s come to know since losing her husband to the attacks.
“Twelve years later and the pain and hurt from that terrible day is still deep for America; but nobody feels it like those who lost husbands, wives, children, grandchildren and those they love most,” Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette said. “Melodie Homer offers assurance that through grief we can still persevere.”
Following Homer’s remarks, a panel discussion will take place on the changes in safety in airports and air since September 11, 2001. Members of the panel are:
- Jim Peacher: Manager of Airport Security, Charleston County Aviation Authority
- Bill New: Deputy Director, Charleston County Aviation Authority
- Melodie Homer: wife of United Airlines Flight 93 co-pilot LeRoy Homer
