Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum is Charleston’s home for patriotism on Veterans Day. In appreciation of those who served in the military, Patriots Point will offer free museum admission to veterans on Thursday, November 11, 2021. The museum will also host a roundtable discussion with Vietnam War veterans.

Visitors are invited to hear the experiences of those who served in the Vietnam War during a Veterans Day panel. The discussion will be held in the Vietnam Experience exhibit at 11 a.m. and is free to attend. Four local Vietnam War veterans will share stories from their time in the military, discuss the draft, and describe their return home at the end of the war. It will also stream to Patriots Point’s Facebook and YouTube channels. Attendees of the in-person and virtual event are invited to participate in a Q&A with the veterans during the final fifteen minutes of the program.

“We are grateful for the sacrifices of our nation’s veterans that created the freedoms we enjoy today,” said Executive Director Dr. Rorie Cartier. “Many of our staff members and the majority of our volunteers served in the military. I encourage our guests to interact with our crew and hear these stories not found in history books.”

Non-veterans who wish to tour the museum following the program will be required to purchase a general admission ticket. Patriots Point is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Veterans Day.
