On November 13th, Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum, in association with the USS Yorktown CV-10 Association and Awendaw Green, will host Awendaw Green’s Homegrown Music Festival for the Benefit of Patriots Point's Institute of History & Science. The Singer-Songwriter Festival will be attended by many of those living the dream of singer-song writer, performing original music under the trees, with Charleston Harbor as the backdrop. The festival encourages the growth of the art of independent performing singer-songwriters. The genres include Acoustic, Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, Celtic, Country and Folk. Using one stage, groups of three musicians will man the stage for an hour, taking turns playing their original music. The music will run from 10:00 am until 8:00. Using the format, we anticipate over 30 musicians will be given the opportunity to present their music. A tent will be set up for the musicians to sell their merchandise. Along with the great music there will also be food and drink available from local businesses. So come on out and have a great time, while also supporting local musicians, businesses and Patriots Point!
-Tickets for the Homegrown Music Festival are $5 (veterans pay $5 also. They get in free to our Museum Ships that weekend, but the Music Fest is $5 for all).
-Tickets will be available at www.patriotspoint.org
-Combo tickets for $20 – this entitles the ticket buyer to attend Homegrown Music Festival and Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum
Here is a video put together by the Charleston City Paper showing the variety of musicians at Awendaw Green's Music Festival in December 2010.
