More than 150 veterans who served on the USS Yorktown will gather at Patriots Point this weekend for the annual USS Yorktown Association reunion. This is the 65th annual event and several registrants have attended every year. The reunion features a general membership meeting, dinner aboard the USS Yorktown and a memorial service for members who have died. A favorite tradition will take place Saturday during the “meet and greet,” which gives Patriots Point visitors an opportunity to get to know the heroes of The Fighting Lady and have them sign a keepsake poster provided at the event.
This Saturday, October 5, the public is invited to a Meet and Greet aboard the USS Yorktown in Hangar Bay III from 10-2pm. This gives visitors and opportunity to spend time with the Yorktown heroes, take pictures and get autographs from them.
“This is always the highlight of the year at Patriots Point,” Executive Director Mac Burdette said. “Every day our visitors get to walk in the steps of heroes, but during the reunion they get to meet them and thank them, too. It’s our honor and privilege to have them on board,” he added.
