More than 300 people attended the 2022 Memorial Day ceremony at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. The featured speaker was Tara McClary Reeves, daughter of Purple Heart recipient Clebe McClary. Reeves shared the moving story of Medal of Honor recipient Ralph H. Johnson and how he saved her father's life in Vietnam. Johnson sacrificed his own life, smothering a grenade with his body, to save the lives of his fellow servicemen. The ceremony also included a presentation of colors and memorial wreath by Lucy Beckham High School JROTC, a patriotic medley sung by Iris Brown and a bagpipe performance of Taps.
