Mount Pleasant, S.C. – Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum will ask visitors to name their own admission price during the first weekend of 2015, January 3 and 4. This will be the fourth year the museum has offered a “Pay-What-You-Can” weekend. Instead of paying the standard admission and parking fees, guests are able to visit the museum for any price they can afford.
“After the holiday season, many families are usually a little tight with money,” said Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette. “We want to give those folks a chance to enjoy our wonderful museum without having to worry about their financial situations. Some will be able to pay more than others and that is just fine. This is a program we created to give something back to the community that supports us throughout the year.”
The normal museum admission rate is $20 for adults. Parking usually costs $5. During the “Pay-What-You-Can” weekend, visitors can pay whatever they feel comfortable paying for admission and parking. Every ticket will include all three historic vessels, the Medal of Honor Museum and the new Vietnam Experience Exhibit. As always, military in uniform and children under six are free.
The Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
