
Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum to Feature Symposium Examining Diversity in World War II

“Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum is pleased to offer this virtual event to our visitors and the Lowcountry community,” said Executive Director Dr. Rorie Cartier. “The topics featured in this symposium will provide greater historical context for visitors as they explore the USS Yorktown and USS Laffey, both of which played significant roles in Pacific Theater of World War II.”
“A Catalyst for Change” will stream live in the Smokey Stover Theater aboard the USS Yorktown Friday, September 17 from 12 p.m.- 5 p.m. and Saturday, September 18 from 10 a.m.- 1:45 p.m. Access to the event is included in the price of admission.
Topics featured in the 34th annual symposium include “Half American: The Epic Story of Black Americans Fighting World War II at Home and Abroad,” “Diversity in the Modern Armed Forces,” and “Native Intelligence: American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian contributions to the Pacific War.”
