Pearl Harbor Day Memorial Service 2019

Date

Many of those who have spent a Pearl Harbor Day at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum will tell you the memorial service is humbling and somber. Every year there are dozens of wreaths thrown into the Charleston Harbor in honor of service members from all branches. This year there were over 90 wreaths thrown in with well wishes, tears, and goodbyes.

The service, organized together with Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 10624, included a wreath laying, tolling of a bell and a traditional gun salute.  Medal of Honor recipient Maj. Gen. James Livingston (Ret.) was the featured speaker.  Livingston earned the military’s highest award for his courageous actions during the Battle of Dai Do in the Vietnam War.
