Inspired by historic wartime events and people, a spectacular artwork exhibit aboard the USS YORKTOWN will feature original paintings, prints, photography, vintage posters, and ship and aircraft models reminiscent of the Civil War through World War II. Join us at Patriots Point for this exhibit, plus special events for ‘Art and Music in Times of War’, May 25 through June 10, 9:00 am until 9:00 pm, daily. A special discounted admission rate of $7 will be offered from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm.

We are especially pleased to display original photography by renowned World War II photographer Edward J. Steichen. Steichen served in the US Navy during WWII, as the Director of the Naval Aviation Photographic Unit. Most notably, in 1945, he won an Academy Award for Best Documentary for The Fighting Lady, a wartime film about the USS YORKTOWN, produced by the US Navy and directed by Steichen. In 1963, President Lyndon Johnson presented Steichen with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. You won’t want to miss this piece of American History.
