Yesterday one hundred and five years ago, Wilbur and Orville Wright, showed the world what dreams were made of when they flew four flights at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
Today, post WB day, thirteen C-17's from Charleston Air Force Base made a mass formation flyby of Patriots Point.
It was quite a sight on Yorktown (CV-10) today, as temperatures are in the 70's and it feels like spring. Winter is due to return by Monday.
Also yesterday, I had a chance to talk with retired Navy Commander Gary D. Harrell. He was here to visit our ships and the Medal of Honor museum which has special significance to Gary. His father was Marine Sergeant William G. Harrell, a Medal of Honor recipient, Sergeant Wiiliam G. Harrell, USMC, Medal of Honor Recipient who was severely wounded in action at the battle of Iwo Jima. Everyday someone comes onboard will amazing connections to our nations history and heroes.
