Witness to War was here last week amidst all the traffic from the Medal of Honor Convention and the Yorktown Association Reunion.
The Witness to War Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the stories and unique experiences of combat veterans. It was founded in an attempt to answer the unanswerable: What was it like to be there? They seek to preserve the oral histories of scared 18 and 19 year olds thrust into circumstances of such intensity and violence, that they became the defining moments of their lives. Witness to War's mission statement is: Preserve, Honor, Educate.
Last week several of our volunteers and former Yorktown crew members told their stories to Witness to War and will soon be posted on their website, go here to check the latest stories added.

A few of our featured volunteers on Witness to War are Bill Cart (World War II Corsair pilot), Art Schmitt (Vietnam Helicopter pilot), and Dick Whitaker (USMC, World War II Okinawa). If you know of any veterans who have not preserved their stories for posterity please get them in touch with Witness to War, they are also looking for volunteers to help document the stories of our veterans before they are lost in time.
