The Boeing Stearman Model 75 or "Stearman" was first introduced in 1934. The Stearman served as the main training plane across all services during World War II, but the N2S variant was particular to the US Navy. Pilots nicknamed the N2S Stearman the "Yellow Terror" for its bright color scheme. This was designed so that other pilots could see and avoid them in flight, as they were not equipped with radios on board.
