Context
Developed by Grumman Aerospace for the US Navy and Marine Corps, the A-6 Intruder was first introduced in 1963. Replacing the A-1 Skyraider, the A-6 Intruder's all-weather flight capabilities were invaluable during the Vietnam War.
The Intruder arrived at Patriots Point in 1944 and is on loan from the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.
