Context

Though created too late to participate in World War II, the AD Skyraider saw active service during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Even after the introduction of jet aircraft, the Skyraider was a staple of the US Navy until it's retirement in 1973.
The Skyraider arrived at Patriots Point in 1992 and is on loan from the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.
