Description
Full page newspaper advertisement for war bonds. The advertisement shows the damages inflicted upon the USS Laffey (DD-724) after she was attacked by kamikazes on April 16, 1945. The reader is then encouraged to help finish the job by continuing to support the war effort.
Context
As the end of the Second World War became more and more of a foregone conclusion, many Americans began to transition away from working jobs focused on the war effort. In response the US Navy began recruitment drives and war bond campaigns focused on finishing the fight.
