Context
Originally developed for the US Navy by McDonnell Aircraft, the F-4 Phantom II was introduced in 1960. The versatile jet was quickly adopted by the Air Force and Marine Corps and used extensively during the Vietnam War.
The Phantom II arrived at Patriots Point in 1991 and is on loan from the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.
