The Laffey Association reunion is taking place at Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum. Both the USS Laffey (DD-724) and the USS Clamagore (SS-343) can be seen in the background.
The items in this collection were donated by Samuel Wingrove, a plank owner and Water Tender aboard the USS Laffey (DD-724) during World War II. Wingrove was present for both D-Day and the Battle of Okinawa.
Wingrove would be promoted a Boiler Technician, go on to serve on a variety of Navy ships in the Korean War and retire as a US Navy Chief Petty Officer.
