This morning at 8:46, the time of the first aircraft hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Center, a color guard of Mount Pleasant firemen and contingent of Moultie Middle School 8th graders processed down the pier at Patriots Point to begin our remembrance ceremony. The pier was lined by 80 young, naval officers at attention from the Naval Weapon's Station and Nuclear Power school commands.
After presentation of the colors, Moultrie students led the crowd in the pledge of allegiance and singing of "God Bless America." Interim executive director Dick Trammell made a few remarks before Mount Pleasant Mayor Kruger Smith assisted by two Moultrie students laid a ceremonial wreath to honor those lost on 9/11. The color guard retrieved the colors and the brief but very moving remembrance was complete.
