PATRIOTS POINT TO OFFER ‘PAY WHAT YOU CAN’ WEEKEND JAN. 4-5, 2014

Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum is kicking off the New Year with a bang, for the third year in a row.  The museum’s popular ‘Pay What You Can’ Weekend returns January 4th-5th.  For this weekend only, normal parking and admission fees will be waived and visitors will be invited to explore the museum for any price they can afford. Visitors simply need to go to the ticket office to get a ticket at which point they “pay what you can.”  There are no time-constraints on the visit during normal operation hours of 9:30am-6pm.

“We recognize that times are tough for many Americans – especially after the holiday season,” said Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette. “Some families may not be able to afford to pay anything while others may have a limited amount they can dedicate to this purpose.  That’s fine with us. ‘Pay What You Can’ Weekend is our way to provide everyone with an opportunity to visit our museum regardless of their financial situation,” he said.

Every ticket to the museum includes the opportunity to explore three of the nation’s most historic vessels, 28 aircraft, the Medal of Honor Museum, Vietnam Naval Support Base and much, much more. Normal admission rates are $18 for adults and a parking fee of $5 per vehicle.  As always, military in uniform and children under 6 are free.
