More than a thousand people braved rainy weather conditions on June 6 to attend our program commemorating the 75th anniversary of World War II's D-Day invasion of France. Nine D-Day veterans from across South Carolina were in attendance and recognized by a standing-room-only audience. Featured speaker Lt. Gen. Paul T. Mikolashek, U.S. Army (ret.), gave a detailed account of the months leading up to the attack, the attack itself, and then the continued advancement of Allied troops through Europe. Mikolashek's presentation included special video interviews of the D-Day veterans in attendance. After the program, all of the veterans participated in a meet and greet with museum visitors. They were treated like the rockstars that they are. Thank you to everyone who attended our special program.
