Several former crew members of the USS LAFFEY are back onboard their former ship. The men will be spending the next few days walking in the footsteps of their past at Patriots Point.
The LAFFEY, nicknamed the “The Ship That Would Not Die”, is the most decorated WWII-era destroyer still in existence, and one of only two remaining U.S. warships that were part of D-Day on June 6, 1944.
Former crew members will be sleeping on board the USS YORKTOWN, but plan to spend most of their time onboard the LAFFEY.
The crew also plans to attend the special D-Day symposium Friday, June 6th at 7 p.m. The symposium will be held inside the YORKTOWN’s Smokey Stover Theater.
