Boom operators on Air Force jets normally fly the boom down to the refueling receptacle on Air Force jets.  Navy inflight refueling incorporates the use of baskets, which Navy pilots plug the basket with a refueling probe and so the USAF must use baskets on their booms to service Naval aircraft.
